Our prices are based on our COST
Manufacturers suggested retail (MSRP) are set by each manufacturer to allow retailers room to make from 100% to 400% Our markup is based on the cost which varies from product to product and from manufacturer to manufacturer. Our philosphy 1) A blind for a 36" x 48" window is the same whether it's for a 1200 square foot townhouse or a 7,000 square foot mansion. It's made in the same factory, shipped in the same box and takes the same amount of time to install. 2) A shade that costs $35 or $500 takes the same amount of time to install. We operate on a 'time invested' basis, not a % markup. 2) Our goal is too grow through referrals, offer the best value, the best service and the best brand name products at the best price 3) Customer loyalty. Pricing is only one part of the relationship, though important, once the decision of what is best for your home it is far more important to you and to us that the product selected is the best choice for your home. 4) Add value to the clients home 5) To reach that goal on an ongoing basis we are constantly looking for ways to reduce overhead, reduce our costs, To provide you with the best value we're constantly working with our suppliers to ensure our volume is reflected in the prices we pay for the products we provide. Our overhead is low. We don't pay management, shareholders, salespeople neither do we have large advertising budgets. When you talk to us you ARE speaking with the owners.
THEIR Pricing Policy
Their prices are based on MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price)
Big Box, Department, Specialty and chain stores have higher operating costs, management, shareholders, COMISSIONED salespeople, large stores. They will advertise 25% to 50% savings on selected items, not on the entire selection. You may purchase one item on sale (still higher than Shades of Home) and find the other shades you want are at full price. Large retailers typically look to be competitive with their peers, other large retailers. We're seen by them as an annoyance. They can't alter their pricing to match as their fixed overhead would cause them to run at a loss. Large retailers look at other avenues to maintain their profit margins of 50%-150% 1) Store credit cards. They know that a certain percentage of card users will not pay their balance before 'don't pay for 6 months' expires and this group will earn the retailer 18% to 22.5% interest on their monthly outstanding balance. 2) 'We'll beat the competition by 10%' They will match or beat the posted prices of other Major Retailers only, NOT our prices. 3) The majority of their sales people are NOT trained and experienced in the full line of available window fashions. It really is incumbent on you to to do your own research. 4) Installation and Check-Measure services are also treated as a profit centre by the Big Box and Department Stores.
