2" and 2 1/2" Faux-Wood Horizontal Blinds
The difference between 2" Custom Faux Wood VS 2" Cut PVC Faux Wood Blinds. On the LEFT is a Cut-Blind which means it's a stock blind that's cut with a saw to the width of the opening. It's the consumers job to remove the extra slats, re-attach the bottom rail and adjust the cords. You will also notice that this blind which is only 28" wide has four sets of string ladders which are the cords that keep the louvers from sagging. (a Custom Blind will only have 2 sets of ladders) The nature of PVC blinds is their weakness. The extra ladders are the only thing keeping the louvers from sagging. For those consumers who are concerned with their environment, there have been issues surrounding the type of PVC used in these blinds as well as the use of heavy metals as a way to stabalize the PVC. These blinds out-gas volatile chemicals as well as leach the heavy metals which accumulate on the louvers and become airborn. We get what we pay for.....make no mistake. For a new homeowner on a limited budget they can be a short term economical choice but with one year warranties, difficulty cleaning (Multiple ladders make it difficult to dust) weight of the blinds makes lifting and tilting louvers difficult and hard on substandard components. They have a 5-10 year maximum lifespan and a one year warranty.
On the Right is a Made to Measure Faux Wood Blind as are photos below. When you add the Value and our 50% everyday discount off Levolor and Hunter Douglas Faux wood blinds you will decide to add value to your home with a Brand Name Blind for LESS!
Above are two examples of 2" Cut Blinds showing the number of ladders they'll have. And with the maximum width limited, you will generally have to place two or more blinds to cover the same opening. The Slats generally do not aline in a side-by-side application but more than that, when they break you have no recourse other than to purchase a replacement which is unlikely to match in colour or valance style. A chair that was built from a recyled wood blind! An example of a Custom Wood Blind in a Bay Window. Notice the Ladders begin at an equal distance from the edge of the louvers, also notice that the centre blind only has two sets of ladders. A PVC Faux Wood blind would have four sets on ladders. Also the valances are mitered to the angle of the bay with returns.
